Read Across Pennsylvania was a week long Kiwanis District event focused on literacy and reading aloud to children. Research shows that reading aloud is the single most important thing you can do to help a child prepare for reading and learning. Kiwanis supports children by providing free books and opportunities to thrive and learn!
Grands Stepping Up
We work with our corporate member at Grands Stepping Up, an organization focused on supporting grandparents raising their grandchildren, supporting the Denis Food Pantry and building a reading corner for children. We believe in improving the lives of children and families in our local community.
Kids Against Hunger
Our Kiwanis club supports Kids Against Hunger, a local organization focused on providing fully nutritious food to impoverished children and families around the world. We help package many meals for children in need. We loved volunteering at Kids Against Hunger as they align with our mission as well as allowing families to serve together. Virtual Art Sessions
During the pandemic we pivoted our art program to Zoom! We partnered with Grands Stepping Up and Main Line Arts since Summer 2021 to organize and run a FREE Art session virtually for children to allow them to have fun and express themselves through art! We continue to find innovative ways to engage and encourage children to further their expression through arts.
Scholarships
Our Kiwanis club provides college scholarships for the students who exemplify the mission of Kiwanis and impact their local community by completing 100 hours of service. We are proud to be able to award two Kiwanis Service Scholarship in the amount of $2,500 each. Applications for the 2023-2024 academic year, scholarship entries are open. Deadline January 5, 2024. We also provide four (4) $300 music scholarships to elementary school students learning to play the guitar. We were thrilled to be a part of helping children express themselves through music!
